City on a Hill is one of Massachusetts’ first charter schools with the upcoming 2022-2023 school year being our 28th year of operation. As we prepare for another school year, City on a Hill is seeking dedicated educators and operations staff to support the empowerment of our students.


ROLE DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the City on a Hill Operations Team, the Finance and HR Manager will support our “back office” operations for our standalone district. This role will report directly to the Chief of Staff.


Human Resources Support 

  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff to ensure that all employee data systems are accurate, efficient and are aligned to CoaH’s goals;
  • Act as primary point of contact for all employee matters, and escalating issues to the Chief of Staff when necessary;
  • Own all teacher and staff climate data by working with partners to create surveys, compile and analyze data, and present opportunities for improvement of retention strategies;
  • Collaborate with benefits brokers to ensure prompt and through submission of all required documentation and information;
  • Maintaining our HRIS (BambooHR) with appropriate documentation of personnel files, onboarding paperwork, fingerprint/background checks and verifications in accordance with City on a Hill and Massachusetts state policies;
  • Act as public records officer to fulfill records request; and
  • Coordinate the collection of data and verify accuracy for all state reports, including EPIMS.


Finance Support

  • Act as liaison between vendors and school leadership;
  • Execute semi-monthly payroll process in collaboration with the Data & Systems Manager and applicable vendors;
  • Process account payables ensuring smooth and proper coding and preparation of all invoices for approval by the Chief of Staff and/or Executive Director;
  • Manage expense reporting process for members of the Senior Leadership Team;
  • Support annual audits by collecting, compiling, and entering data as needed; 
  • Support the Executive Director, Chief of Staff and our contracted Finance vendor, Central Source, in the development, approval and tracking of our annual budget; and
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned by the Chief of Staff and/or Executive Director.


Required Qualifications

  • A belief that all students can and must learn at high levels and a commitment your own continued learning, particularly as it relates to City on a Hill’s journey to operating as an anti-racist school;
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in finance, HR and/or operations; and
  • A minimum of 2 years of complex project or people management experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with BambooHR, ADP, or other related HRIS software; and
  • Previous experience running payroll and managing reimbursements.
